About the event

On Sunday 1st August, the award winning ensemble Aeris Brass will present a family concert at 3:00pm in Historic Kilbride. The concert is presented as a double celebration by Friends of Kilbride and the Oban Music Society first, of the successful completion of Phase 3 of the renovation of the ruined Kirk; and secondly of the return of public concerts to Oban as the pandemic recedes.

Seating will be within the Kirk at 1m social distance between households, or around the churchyard for those who prefer to have more space. Both options offer full appreciation of the event, as the musicians will be performing from a variety of situations within the grounds.

As well as giving the opportunity to hear a wide range of entertaining music, the event will showcase the transformation which has been effected to Historic Kilbride during lockdown, thanks to a generous grant from the Historic Environment Recovery Fund. Refreshments will be available.

Funding for the concert has been generously provided by the Chamber Music Scotland Recovery Fund with thanks to Historic Environment Scotland.

Aeris Brass formed in 2015 as a result of a desire to make music with friends and to take that music to places they loved. This has led to the group performing across the UK, Sweden, and San Marino - Performing at festivals such as the San Marino New Music Project, The Merchant city festival, Glasgow in collaboration with Surge Theatre Scotland, and more recently as part of the British Trombone Society Cyber Fest. Always looking to create new repertoire, they have commissioned works from David Swan, Peter Longworth, and Laura Jurd, and Scott Stroman as well as countless new arrangements from members of the group. Aeris Brass enjoy featuring guest artists, and have recorded and performed with internationally renowned soloists Carol Jarvis, Rick Taylor, Mike Lovatt, Rex Richardson, Emily White, and John Kenny. Aeris Brass were delighted to win the British Trombone Society Quartet competition 2019.

Seating is limited so guests are asked to RSVP, with payment taken in cash at the door. Proceeds from the concert will be divided among Friends of Kilbride, Oban Music Society and the Kilmore and Kilbride Community Fund.
