Following a recent visit to Kilbride, Historic Environment Scotland (HES) are proposing to schedule the entire site (Prayer House, Churchyard and Burial Aisle) as a Historic Monument of National importance (at present, only the Prayer House is scheduled – the churchyard is listed by the Council, and the Burial Aisle has Listed B status).
This is a real boost for Friends of Kilbride, confirming the importance we have always believe Kilbride to enjoy – and it may even help us in future fundraising! The proposal (which is out for consultation until 4th June) can be found at http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/document/600023244
Update! Kilbride churchyard, including the church, graves, and MacDougall Memorial Aisle have now received Scheduled Monument Status as of 14 June 2019.
